News at Vinmonopolet

Here are some new additions to Vinmonopolet’s selection. I love that Nadia Curto has made it on the list, it’s been a while since I’ve seen her wines in Norway. Cavallotto and Cascina Fontana are also favorites of mine. Looking forward to a year full of wine!

What were the favorite wines?

In a weekend with A LOT of good wines, there are bound to be a few favorites! I enjoyed most of the wines, but like always there are ones you love and ones you maybe don’t like as much. For me round 4, the last round, was the best one. The Veglio 1997 and Altare 1996 were by far my favorite – we all know how I LOVE old barolo!

Restaurant Enoteca

For my birthday, my aunt took me out to dinner and to the theater. Enoteca is located in Oslo in Bygdøy Allé, with only a few tables and some seats at the bar. They are most known for their pizza, and we found out while we were sitting there that pizza takeout is very popular!

The overall experience at Enoteca was good, but the service was so so. I had the pizza and it was VERY good. We found Massolino on the menu (after having tried ordering a few other options that ended up being sold out), and although I find their wines a little too masculine it was very good! I’ll for sure come back!

Winery Wednesday

In Serralunga you find a few wineries in the center, one of them is Massolino. A beautiful winery with a stunning view, and of course good wines. In addition to the “regular reds” they also make a Langhe Chardonnay and a Moscato. Everyone knows I LOVE moscato, it’s a perfect drink on a warm summer day or with dessert (or just because).

The estate is now on it’s 4th generation of winemakers, continuing the family business from when Giovanni founded the estate in 1896. The winery has since been “updated” and is very beautiful!

If you are in the area, you should stop by. And if you do go, I recommend eating at Centro Storico while you’re there!

Check out Massolino’s website here!

Vinitaly 2017

Ok. I am not sure where to start. This may be the most insane wine event I have ever attended. There is just miles and miles of wine. I spent 5 hours there and I didn’t even get to see all the wineries in the Piemonte hall that I wanted to see. For the first 30 minutes I just wandered around, trying to get a lay of the land. If I go another time I will definitely do some more research and plan ahead. I would also like to stay more then 1 day, as 1 day is definitely not enough. Below are a few (of the many) pictures I snapped of the day.
