Philipponnat for NYE

New Years Eve is fast approaching, and as it is a holiday often associated with champagne, I have another recommendation for you! Champagne is not my forte, but there are a few that make it onto my list.

We all know I love Philipponnat – if you haven’t heard the story, let me know and I’ll tell you!

Anyways, here are a few that are available at Vinmonopolet:

Philipponnat Blanc de Noirs 2011 599,-

Philipponnat Grand Blanc Brut 2007 599,-

Philipponnat Royale Réserve Non-Dosé 415,-

Some of My Favorite Champagne

It is true I mostly stick to Barolo, but sometimes life calls for champagne. So for those occasions I have a few champagnes that are my go-to. Keep in mind I rarely drink champagne, so when I finally have some bubbles, they are pretty good ones.

Ciccio in Serralunga introduced me to Pierre Peters champagne. When I come to think of it, Ciccio has been a key player in my champagne education. The best champagne list outside of France is at Centro Storico. Of course it is not actually a list, but he has one of the best collections of champagne. He often has them by the glass, a perfect way to start a lunch and try something new.

Below you see a picture of me and Charles Philipponnat. I attended a winemakers dinner in Barolo, where he presented his wines. I think my favorite champagne is his blanc de blanc.

Which restaurant has the best Champagne list outside of France?

Champagne heaven – Can you guess where it is?

A champagne lineup like this can only mean one thing: Ciccio is involved.

Ever been to Vinoteca Centro Storico before? If not, you should go! Ciccio, the boss, along with his wife and mother in law, runs the place where you can get the best champagne outside of France. I guess you could say that it’s his passion – besides food of course. The list of bottle he has is non existent (because it’s all in his head) but I can guarantee he will find something that suits your mood. Philipponnat, Pierre Peters, Pol Roger – you name it.

Centro Storico is a legendary place, and all the locals seem to think so as well, because you are very likely to run into them there (especially late at night). If you follow Ciccio on Instagram you will see incredible lineups and crazy pictures. Basically, you are bound to have a good time if you go! And try the ham as well; he hand carves it right in front of you!

#tbt Recap

Looking back at my not too shabby wine adventure. I know I am very lucky, and I appreciate every moment along the way. Here are some of my favorite moments.
