Piemonte is easily associated with good food. Good pizza, however, is hard to come by. If you are looking for Pizza, Monforte is the place to go. Right in the Piazza is an excellent pizza place. The have other dishes of course but it is a common place to get pizza. They also have a very good wine list and because it’s located in the piazza, it is usually quite lively. One Friday during our vacation, we had Friday Pizza here. I got my usual Margherita with prosciutto! It was belissimo!

Fun to have seen this and then tried the wine with LM

Desert at Le Chevreuil, amazing!

Me, very exciyed for the visit at Michel Lafarge
The Barolo Chapel is located in the midst of the vineyards, right besides the well known vineyard of Brunate. This chapel used to be a shelter for the workers but is now a piece of art and a must see when you are in the area.

I have arrived in Bourgogne and I spent the first half of today in Volnay. It started with a winery visit with Joseph Voillot. Legendry. He spoke no english and my french is about as good as my mandarin, but we made it through and tasted some very good wines.
Lunch was incredible. We ended up at Le Cellier Volnaysien at the reccomendation of Mr. Voillot. His favorites were the poached eggs and Coq au vin. We did not try the egg, but my three companions (my family) had the Coq au vin and it was very good! We tried one of his white wines, Mersault Les Cras, and it was very good!

So far the trip to Bourgogne has been very good! Hopefully the next visits will be just as fun!

I am officially on vacation! Ahead lies 3 days in Beaune and 17 days in Italy! There are many wine tastings on the schedule, amongst them Domain Michel Lafarge and hopefully Liger-Belair. I am looking forward to visiting some new wineries and seeing old friends again.
