Le Torri

Le Torri front

I know I talk about La Morra a lot, and the locals call me Lamorese, but there are many good places in the other towns in Piemonte. One of them is Le Torri in Castiglione Falletto. They changed owners a few years ago, so the restaurant has changed but definitely not for the worse.

Le Torri dining room

I mean, look at that beautiful dining room. And the incredible food! On the menu you will find the traditional dishes like Vitello Tonnato and Plin, but Le Torri also experiments with more untraditional dishes like seafood pastas and raw shrimp breaded in a pistachio crust. YUM!

If you’re in the area, you should stop by! And it’s right next door to Vietti so maybe you’ll catch a glimpse of Luca running around (or maybe even dining at the table next to you?)

Winery Wednesday

Marengo – another favorite

I know the list of my favorite wineries is growing (a lot) but there are just so many good winemakers to visit. And Marengo is definitely high on the list.

If you visit them you will most likely meet with Jenny, Marco’s wife, and you’ll maybe get to taste som of the wines you see in the picture below. One of my favorites is their Langhe Nebbiolo Valmggiore, and you’ll often see me drink it at More e Macine (just ask the locals). Marengo also has a beautiful “new” tasting room adjacent to the wine cellar so you’ll probably also get a tour!

Wines Round 2 Barolo Night

Barolo Night Oslo Round 2

The lineup for the first 6 wines is not bad. (hehe) Keep in mind we did these wines blind, 3 at a time, so the tasting notes reflect what was tasted at the time.

Barolo Night Oslo Lineup 6 wines

Aldo Conterno Ciacala 1999

Earth tones and toffee on the nose. Older, caramelized, earthy.

Aldo Conterno Ciacala 2012

Floral notes, leather, red berries. Lots of tannins, fruity in the mouth.

Palladino 2010

Strange. To me it did not taste like a wine from Piemonte.

This round the “winner” was definitely the 1999 Aldo Conterno. Everyone knows I like old Barolo, and this one was no exception.
