Mercato Del Suffragio

So one good thing about moving to Milano is there is an abundance of wine and good Italian food. And I have many friends that give good tips. This was one of them. Mercato del Suffragio. Here you will find four corners with delicious fresh food. You can sit down and eat, buy “take away” or just buy the fresh ingredients.

One corner has freshly baked bread, pizza, foccacia and coffee. The second corner has fresh fruits and vegetables, juices and salads. Third corner has fish and seafood. And fourth corner, my favorite, has cheese, salumi and wine. You can pick from each of the corners and sit down and enjoy the meal there, or take the meal home. The atmosphere is relaxed, the staff is very  friendly and the food is very good! I am definitely coming back here. Especially for the Ice Cream.

It was Daniela, the wife of Mauro Veglio, that told me about this place. They know the owner, Willy, who is very nice! His real passion is Ice Cream, and he let me try some. The nocciola is to die for! The brand is Cool, and their idea is to make natural ice cream with fresh ingredients. They even have ice cream without Lactose for those who are intolerant.

Drinking my way through NYC

When I was in NYC last I had the opportunity to try a lot of wines. I think my favorites were the Dominique Lafon Bourgogne and the Burlotto Barbera d’Alba.

Another cool wine we drank was the Bruno Giacosa Dolcetto 1994. 22 year old grape juice is always fun to try. This one was quite funky at first but got better and better as the night went on.

Mangialonga 2016

Siliva Altare, me and Jenny (M Marengo)

Once again I am gearing up for Mangialonga! I think that I’ll be able to go this year!

Mangialonga is 4 km non competetive enogastronomic hike that takes place in La Morra. In other words, you walk around in the beautiful Langhe while eating and drinking. I don’t think it gets better than that!

You can read more about it here and here.

Mangialonga 2013

Almost a year ago, I had the pleasure of participating in the Mangialonga.
For those of you who don’t know, Mangialonga is basically a “walkathon” where you walk about 2km, while eating and drinking. Drinking a lot!
EVERYONE is welcome (you have to buy a ticket of course), but last year dogs, and kids, and adults, and cripples and whatever else came through the Start line and the crossed the finish line a few drops of alcohol later.
At the end, there is a party, with Moscato (as much as you may desire).
