Throwback to working hard (or hardly working) at Vinitaly 2017 with “The Boss”

My time in Milan is coming to and end, and I thought I would share my favorite wine spots with you guys.
I think my absolute favorite spot i N’Ombra de vin, both because it was a great selection of wine but also because of the atmosphere. Really a fun place to spend time. And they have a good selection of Altare and Marengo!

N’Ombra de Vin
Recently, I discovered a new place: Bottega del Vino, and I the wine list as so good that it took me 20 minutes to decide which wine to get. Amazing, really!
Another good spot is Signorvino, but unlike the others, I only go here to buy wine. They also have a restaurant but I am not a huge fan… But the selection of wine in the store is great! You find many Vietti wines here.

Signorvino
Last but not least is Peck. I have never tried their restaurants (they have a few) but the Enoteca is amazing. Huge selection, some really good producers, and the actual place is really cool.

Throwback to last years Pylsa&Barolo. Looking forward to Pylsa&Barolo tomorrow, La Morra edition! Pictures to come!

I know I focus a lot on Barolo, but as many of you know Barbaresco is also an amazing wine area. And one of my favorite producers from that region is Bruno Rocca. They have a really good selection of wines and a beautiful estate, so if you’re looking for wineries in Barbaresco (or Piemonte for that matter) you should check it out.

The Rocca family has been making wine for decades, starting as early as the 1830’s. However, it wasn’t until 1978 that Bruno Rocca started making wine under the family name. And now his childern, Luisa and Francesco also work at the winery. You can see Luisa in the picture below. One of the prides of Barbaresco is the Rabajà, a very well known cru.
One of the things I like to do is ask the “professional” foodies where they go to eat and drink, and I’m rarely disappointed. La Bottega del Vino was recommended by Ciccio from Centro Storico and he was not wrong to recommend this place. I think I spent 20 minutes with the wine list alone, and because the wine list was so amazing I had to first pick the wine and then the food — struggles.

I went safe with the food: Vitello Tonnato, Raviolo cacio & pepe and a lava cake for dessert. The ravioli was really good, with tons of good flavors. I did not get a picture because I got too excited didn’t have time to take a photo… But it was good! The Vitello Tonnato was also good, but I still prefer the versions in Barolo. And chocholate cake is never a bad idea. So food wise it was a pretty good night!
Now the wine… I know it might be strange to order french wine in Italy but when I saw they had Marc Colin on the wine list I did not have much choice. I think he makes some of the best wines in the world, and even his most “basic” wines are incredible. So you don’t have to break the bank to enjoy a good glass of chardonnay. Apart from Marc Colin they had many other amazing french wines from Matror, Liger-Belair and Domaine Leflaive. In the Piemonte section they had a good selection of Gusieppe Rinaldi, Capellano, Vietti, Cavallotto, Brezza, Gaja and Conterno. I was not disappointed and hope to return here very soon!

Blurry but the wine was still good 😉

Celebrating 17 Mai with the Veglio’s in NYC

Picking grapes for Uno Per Uno with the team at Cantina Altare

Happy Birthday to Norway and all my Norwegians. Last year I was in NYC on this day hanging out at a wine fair with Mauro Veglio and Daniela. This year I am at school in Milan… But to those of you who are celebrating, enjoy!
