It’s always wonderful to see good friends and it was a pleasure to attend the Vadio winemakers dinner at Astral in Oslo a while back. First – what a location!! Astral is located a little outside Oslo in a beautiful building (I mean, come on – look at those pictures!)

Eduarda and Luis, the winemakers from Vadio, shared 6 wines with us. Starting with the bubbly as a welcome drink. Then the Rose, followed by the white wine, before the 3 red wines. You know me, so you know I mostly stick to Piemontese wines, but I make exceptions for when my friends are in town! Go to http://www.vadio.pt/ to learn more about their wines.

Lastly I want to give a little shoutout to Astral. I was very impressed that they managed to serve high quality food for so many guests at a time – bravo! The food was delicious, the staff was fantastic and the wine was great (of course)!

You don’t have to go all the way to More e Macine to eat Insalata Russa! You can just stroll down a cozy street in Oslo and pop in at Bono! I am beyond excited! Since I am unable to make it myself (I have tried, and failed), I am happy that I can get in right here in my neighborhood!

Bono is run by this wonderful Italian man from Piemonte! The place has a few tables, great food, good wine list and excellent service! You should definitely check it out if you are in Oslo! I’ll be heading back soon, that’s for sure!

There is also a little store with cheese, salumi, pesto and lots of other good stuff! I even found my favorite brand of robiola! Can you tell I am excited about this?!
Here are a few that are available at Vinmonopolet. Note: many of them you have to order.

It’s not news that I love BA53 and I know I should expand my horizons but it’s just so good that I have to keep going back. Besides, the menu changes so it’s not like I am eating the same things every time.

Anyways, just wanted to share what I ate and drank this time. And brag about the fantastic staff and delicious food!
There are many more wineries in Piemonte than then ones pictured but these are some of my favorites. You can also check out Winery Wednesday to read more about them.

I know I talk about La Morra a lot, and the locals call me Lamorese, but there are many good places in the other towns in Piemonte. One of them is Le Torri in Castiglione Falletto. They changed owners a few years ago, so the restaurant has changed but definitely not for the worse.

I mean, look at that beautiful dining room. And the incredible food! On the menu you will find the traditional dishes like Vitello Tonnato and Plin, but Le Torri also experiments with more untraditional dishes like seafood pastas and raw shrimp breaded in a pistachio crust. YUM!
If you’re in the area, you should stop by! And it’s right next door to Vietti so maybe you’ll catch a glimpse of Luca running around (or maybe even dining at the table next to you?)
