Trediberri’s first vintage was 2011 and his wines quality has skyrocketed! And at this price, this barbera is fricking steal!

Azelia Dolcetto 2013 179,-
A very interesting dolcetto, with grapes grown outside the Barolo area. This means that some of the best vineyards are actually used for Dolcetto instead of Nebbiolo, giving the grapes the best circumstances, making this Dolcetto extraordinary!

For Summer

Vietti Moscato 199,-
Get a bowl of strawberries and pop open this – it’s like you died and went to heaven. I love moscato, and I don’t even need a dessert. So good!

Trediberri Langhe Rosato 139,-
I am not a huge rose person, but if I had to pick one it’s for sure Trediberri’s Langhe Rosato. Fresh, not super sweet and made with love.

Agrapart Blanc de Blanc 508,-
Champagne is growing on me, and I really like this one. And as for Champagne, this is not super expensive. Blanc de blanc typically suits me best, and Agrapart makes a really good one!

It’s that time of year again. Pylsa & Barolo. Hot dogs and red wine.

Pylsa & Barolo 2018 went off without a hitch and as you can see we drank some good wines. We started the night off with champagne from Pierre Peters (a bubbly that even I enjoy) and moved into 2011 barolo while eating hot dogs flown in from Idsøe in Stavanger.

2011 is supposed to be a very approachable vintage now, but for me it is still too young. We all know I prefer older barolo. Unfortunately I did not make it to all of the wines as many disappeared long before they reached my table. But some of my favorites include Vietti Castiglione, Marengo Brunate and Bartolo Mascarello. I had some Altare Cerretta, and although this is a very good wine, for me it is a little too masculine and should have stayed in the cellar another decade.

Remember I asked you for advice on how to run a Wine Tasting? Well, here is how it went!

Wine Night 3

My very talented friend Elena Baseotto made me some tasting sheets, and I decided to go for 3 wines next to each other: dolcetto, barbera and nebbiolo. The knowledge level among the participants varied a lot, so this was a nice way to show them the different grapes and their characteristics.

I chose a dolcetto from Andrea Oberto, a barbera from Burlotto and a langhe nebbiolo from Trediberri. These 3 producers are different yet they share the same philosophy (and are people I care about). It was very interesting to see which wines the guests preferred and why. I like all three, but in very different ways. Dolcetto is very easy to drink, not a lot of structure, but very pleasant. Barbera tends to be bigger (in comparison to dolcetto) and tastes better with food (in my opinion). And langhe nebbiolo is tannin free and smooth, yet has more structure than the dolcetto. All in all good wines to try.

I think maybe next time I will do a comparison of the same type of wine but either from different producers or different cru. I think it is interesting to see the different producers interpretation of the wine. Any thougths?

Fun Fact Friday: Trediberri Cru

 Trediberri has a very cool cru to their name, which one is it?

Not sure if you noticed, but Trediberri has become a favorite producer of mine. The wines are good, of course, but it’s the people that make it so great! I have written about Trediberri before, you can read about the winery here. But what I maybe didn’t mention is that they are one of a few winemakers that have a piece of land in a very cool cru. Do you know which cru it is?

One of my new favorite winemakers in Nicola at Trediberri. You’ll have to look hard to find a more energetic, eager to learn, interesting young winemaker. The winery is located below La Morra in the middle of the vineyards. He is a relatively new winemaker, but his wines are well balanced and fresh. Definitely worth a try if you can get a hold of a bottle (or a glass).

This wine has the characteristics of a typical nebbiolo: fruity, floral, cherries. As it is a nebbiolo, it might need to breathe a little to open up, but it’s a fresh wine, easy to drink.

Winery Wednesday

Trediberri

Although a fairly small winery, it’s definitely worth a visit. Trediberri is basically just 3 people from Berri (kind of): Nicola Oberto, Federico Oberto and Vladimiro Rambaldi. The winery is fairly hidden in the valley below La Morra, below the Rocche dell’Annunziata vineyard. We were lucky to visit with Nicola, and he showed us both the winery and the vineyard. What I love about Nicola is that he so passionate and he loves to talk about his work. He went into quite some detail about the vines, the grapes and the cellar work. I even got to taste some sulfite!

One of his passions is to educate the younger generation about wines, and I definitely learned a few things during my visit. We unfortunately did not get to taste wines as we ran out of time, but I will for sure try them at a later date. It was a real pleasure to meet with Nicola, and I hope you will have the same pleasure sometime.
